Do you ever see something you really want to do but worry if you’ll be ready for it?
I’ve always wanted to do an elite race in triathlon. But I’ve never been a good enough swimmer.
I’m not bad, just not quite “there” with it.
But an opportunity to do an elite Duathlon was right up my street.
Run bike then run again.
I’m a decent runner, good cyclist and reckon I might not embarrass myself.
You see, you may look at my running times and think I’m pretty handy, but I look at those faster than myself and have the same thoughts.
In fact it was literally enough for me to email the organiser a couple of weeks back and ask to move my entry from the elite wave to the standard wave.
I’m not proud to admit it.
I almost bailed… [Well I suppose technically I did!]
Fear got the better of me.
But I am so glad they told me no.
What’s the worst that could happen?
Do you ever experience the same thing?
If you have, you are on the right track. Only when we experience fear are we pushing ourselves onto that next level.

RunCamp is certainly up there, maybe a little scary at first as it’s totally different to the other stuff you’ll be used to.
But totally rewarding once you get into the swing of things.

I even had a humbling experience in the week when a runner came back after a brief period away wanting to get back into the RunCamp fold.
Maybe missing the group atmosphere?
The increased motivation from being within a supportive network of focused individuals?
The ability to speak to someone when you are feeling down?
And that someone to give you a good ole kick up the butt too (we all need this sometimes!)
For those interested, the race above is tomorrow… 4:30pm.
I’m worried, but hey… I’ll come out the other side fighting (not literally… That’s just not my style!)
Although there was this one story… But I’ll tell you about that another time.
